Health benefits of hot tubs

  • Can be used for hydrotherapy
  • Stress relief
  • Improved sleep
  • Aids muscle relaxation
  • Can help to lower blood pressure

  • Who can use hot tubs?

Anybody can use and enjoy a hot tub — that’s the beauty of them! Children should always be supervised, and the temperature should be adjusted lower. If you suffer from any of the following conditions, you should avoid using the hot tub:

    • Pregnancy
    • Heart disease
    • Low blood pressure
    • Urinary tract infections (UTI)

Staying safe in the hot tub

Don’t spend more than 20 minutes in the tub

Although it can be tempting to lounge in the tub four hours at a time, it can also begin to have negative effects. It’s best to bathe in short bursts, taking breaks in between to limit the side effects of being in hot water for too long.

    Stay hydrated

Although it can be tempting to crack open a bottle of champagne — after all, what’s more luxurious than bubbly in a bath — you should avoid this if possible. Staying hydrated is really important, as it will help to regulate your body temperature. Drink lots of water!

    Monitor the temperature

Test the water a few times to find your ideal comfortable temperature and make a note of it on your hot tub’s controller. The water shouldn’t stray over 40 degrees in temperature — otherwise, it’ll be too hot.

    Wash before and after bathing

In order to maintain the cleanliness of the water in your hot tub, be sure to make bathers shower before and after using it. This will limit the amount of oils in the water, prolonging the life of your hot tub.

    Keep your hot tub clean

Cleaning your hot tub is simple — simply drain the water, remove any debris, and wipe down the walls of the tub, before refilling it and adding a new dose of chlorine.
