Lights up the night - As well as providing warmth, a fire pit will light up your garden once the sun has set. They give your garden a fabulous, warm glow while having the power to change the aesthetics of your home. The garden is often the most underused part of the home, but with a fire pit, no day is too cold and no night is too dark for you to enjoy your time in the great outdoors.
Useable throughout the year - While you may assume that fire pits are a summer feature, they can be used throughout the year. You can use it to warm and light up your evenings during events like Halloween, Bonfire Night, and even Christmas Eve. A fire pit makes your garden more accessible throughout the year as it allows you to enjoy your time outdoors during all seasons.
Have multiple uses - Fire pits have multiple uses, making them a functional addition to your garden. As well as providing you with heat and light, fire pits can be used to cook on. All you need to do is place a grill plate over the top and cook away as you would with a BBQ. Fire pits also extend your home, as they effectively create an alfresco lounge space where you can relax and socialise.
Helps you relax and unwind - When the sun goes down after a long or busy day, being able to sit outdoors and unwind by warm, dancing flames is a calming and soothing way to relax in your back garden. Whether you want to read a book, listen to music, or just escape your hectic lifestyle and have some peace, with a fire pit, you’ll be able to chill outdoors whenever you feel like you need it.
Is a gas, wood, or charcoal fire pit best for me?
The fuel your fire pit needs will be determined by the type of fire pit you’ve purchased. However, it’s important to know some of the pros and cons of each fuel before making your purchase.
Gas - This is the most convenient option, as they can simply be turned on and off with the push of a button. They also don’t produce any smoke, making them much more pleasant to use. However, there is a higher risk of a fire hazard. Gas fire pits can also give an unpleasant flavour to food if you use them to cook with, so they might not be suitable if you plan on using your fire pit for barbecues.
Wood - To control the size of your fire, all you need to do is add or reduce the wood. They’re also good for cooking and don’t leave a bad aftertaste on your food. The downside to wood-fuelled fire pits is that they require more work to light and keep burning, they create a lot of smoke, you’ll need a wood storage area, and the fire pits will require regular cleaning.
Charcoal - It’s faster and easier to make a fire from charcoal compared to wood. They’re also easy to keep going — all you need to do is add more charcoal. They won’t leave a smokey flavour on food and stay at a high temperature. However, they’re incredibly messy and hard to clean after use, and the charcoal trade is harmful to the environment.
