FAQs
Where should I place the garden bench?
It’s up to you where you decide to place your bench! However, some people prefer to site their bench on a paved area, so it doesn’t have to be moved for mowing. Try the bench in different positions in the garden — both in the sun and in the shade, to work out where it sits best.
For large gardens filled with exciting nooks to explore, a bench or two placed in thought-out spots will really set the tone. Place a metal bench under a rose-covered archway, or overlooking a babbling water feature to create somewhere quiet and relaxing. Or if you prefer the look of a wooden bench, adding one next to raised beds on your allotment or vegetable garden is perfect for those well-earned moments of rest.
How should I secure a garden bench in place?
If you live in an area with frequent high winds or are conscious of possible theft, securing your new garden bench in place will be imperative. Use ground anchors to ensure that the bench won’t go anywhere. Screw the anchor to the bench, and then hammer the anchors in at ground level. You can secure anchors with or without a spacer.
How to clean outdoor cushions
- Remove loose debris, like leaves, dust or bugs, by brushing or vacuuming
- Clean the cushions with warm soapy water and a soft cloth, to prevent damage to the fabric
- Rinse the cushions using clean water
- Dry the cushions with a towel
Can you leave wooden garden benches outside?
Although wooden furniture can be left outside, there are a few things that you should do to prevent mould, rot or mildew. To be safe, and to prevent wood rot, cover your wooden bench overnight or in the event of bad weather — a simple waterproof tarp or bench cover will do, or put it in your garage or shed over winter.
