Having a Lay-Z Spa means you can sit back and relax in this luxury garden getaway in the comfort of your own home surroundings. Whether it is used for hot tub parties or just for the kids, it’s crucial that you look after your spa properly, and it is simple to do so. By taking proper care of your Lay-Z Spa you will ensure that it lasts for a very long time.
Before you use your Lay-Z Spa we advise that you always take a shower to remove any body lotions or oils from your skin. The reason for this is because if you have been wearing any lotion or cream, the residue can cause the spa to foam or for the water to become murky. Furthermore, this can also leave stains on the sides. Try to clean your hot tub at least once a week to keep it looking brand new. Also, if you plan to store your tub away, ensure that it has been dried thoroughly too.
In order to kill any bacteria in the water we recommend that you use a cleaner, and the Clearwater Spa Starter Kit has everything you need. Containing essential chemicals, it helps to keep the water clean and to prevent algae.
Checking the pH levels is an important factor in keeping your hot tub in fine working order. The Spa Starter Kit includes 25 test strips for you to check if the alkalinity, chlorine and pH levels of pool water are suitable. If the pH balance becomes too low, the water will turn acidic and this may cause irritation such as causing your eyes to sting; also the pump and seals can corrode if the pH level is not right. On the other hand, if the water becomes alkaline and the pH level is too high, this can cause dirt and residue inside the pump and massage jets. Try and check your spa’s pH balance at least once a week to prevent any issues from arising. Ideally, the pH balance should be between 7.0 and 7.6.
Last of all, it is essential that you frequently clean and change your spa’s filter cartridges. The filter cartridges keep the spa’s filter pump operating efficiently and they remove any dirt from the water. Dirt can build up quickly if the spa is regularly used, so you should remove the filters and clean them thoroughly between uses. Furthermore, we recommend that you replace the filter cartridges every few weeks. By keeping the cartridges clean this prevents any strain on the pump motor. Poor maintenance of your spa can lead it to the pump and / or heater to cease working, or worse, it can cause a mechanical breakdown. You can purchase spare filter cartridges for your spa here to keep your Lay-Z Spa in a high quality condition.
