Water play is incredibly important for a child’s development and splashing around in the paddling pool is great fun too!
With the unpredictable weather giving us whistling gales one minute and warm, balmy afternoons the next, it’s a good idea to make sure you have your pool at the ready for the kids to dive in whenever the temperature allows. Here are five perfect paddling pools that will keep them entertained for hours on end:
The Bestway multi-coloured paddling pool has an inflatable design, and with its interconnecting nozzle and free pump, it’s easy to put up, take down and store away when it’s not in use. Its brilliant bright colours and fascinating see-through sides make it an instant winner with smaller children who will be fascinated at looking into and out of the pool through the edges.
The pool is a generous 183cm in diameter and 61cm in height with a 763 litre capacity (75% fill), so it’s just the right size for around three children to play without it feeling too crowded. With its sturdy L-beam construction and strong PVC composition, it is clearly built to last which makes it great value given its low cost.
We love letting the little ones out into the garden to play but the risks of sun exposure are always a huge concern, especially where water is involved. The Bestway splash-in-shade pool is an excellent solution to this, giving your child a brilliant place for water play that is shaded by a fantastic UV protected sun canopy. The canopy, which is UPF 40+ rated, helps protect kids and adults alike from the sun’s harmful rays whilst they are splashing around and having fun. If things are getting a little hot under the canopy, you can attach the hose to the water mister which gives you a refreshing light mist of cold water to cool you down.
The pool itself has a fabulous cheery design and features a strong, rust-resistant frame and heavy duty PVC that will keep it in good shape for years to come. It is easy to fill with the garden hose and the drain valve allows simple emptying when you need to.
If you thought padding pools were exclusively for the kids, think again! This awesome pool is 269cm by 175cm so has plenty of room for the whole family to dip in and cool off. With mum and dad on hand, this brilliant pool offers a safe space for younger children to practice paddling, splash around and have fun in the water. The easy-to-inflate design is made from two strong inflatable rings and the generous 51cm depth can be filled to 75%, giving a decent 982 litre capacity. With a free air hammer inflation pump included, you’ll find yourself bringing this super pool out time and time again on warm days throughout the year.
As if having a pool in the garden wasn’t already enough fun, this amazing pool comes with two pairs of 3D goggles that allow your kids to explore deep sea creatures while cooling down in the water. There are special 3D effects to explore beneath the surface where your kids will love the colourful coral reef that lies in wait. There are lobsters, prawns, sharks, Moray eels, sharks and even a huge whale to grab their attention and spark their imagination.
The Splash and Play pool is a generous 213cm (7 foot) in diameter and is 66cm high, offering plenty of space for several children to play together. Setting it up is really easy – you just inflate the vibrantly coloured top ring and then fill the blue base up with water. Its heavy duty PVC and 3 ply polyester side walls are built to give your kids many years of exciting play.
If your garden is a little more roomy, the Bestway 10ft Steel Pro Frame Pool Set takes the humble paddling pool concept to a whole new level. This easy to assemble pool is generous in size, allowing mum and dad to get in too – perfect if you’ve got younger children and you want to sit beside them. There’s room for your children’s friends too, and summer pool parties will become a firm favourite as the weather gets warmer!
The great thing about this pool is that although it’s much bigger than your average paddling pool, it’s just as easy to set up and take down. The metal frame slots together with easy ‘T’ connectors and ‘C’ clips making it so simple to assemble with no digging, heavy sand or other complications involved. Just build it up on a flat surface and fill it whenever you feel like cooling off. The trickiest thing you’ll need to do is fit the water cleansing pump using a screwdriver, and this really isn’t tricky at all – but rest assured there’s a DVD included, just in case you get stuck.
Please note that children of all ages should be constantly supervised around water, regardless of how shallow it is. They will also still need UV sun screen when using the splash-in-shade pool and canopy.
